The Heights is one of the most mixed housing stocks in Houston, and it is the reason listings here are easy to photograph badly. On one block you have a restored 1920s bungalow with original pine floors and nine-foot ceilings; on the next, a three-storey new build with a rooftop deck. The same lighting approach does not serve both.
For the older homes I shoot to keep the character visible — the transom windows, the porch depth, the wood that someone spent a year restoring. Bracketed exposures keep the window views instead of blowing them out, and verticals stay straight so the rooms read as square rather than leaning.
For new construction, the job is usually the opposite: showing scale and flow in rooms that photograph flat because they are empty. Wide is not always better here, and I shoot the floor plan the way a buyer walks it.
Rooftop decks and third-storey views are worth an aerial frame, and they are the single most skipped shot in Heights listings. Drone coverage can be added to any scheduled shoot, subject to the airspace check I run before every flight.
